Chrysanthemums are flowers related to dahlias, sunflowers and marigolds. From a single bloom the Chrysanthemum make up of hundreds of flowers called florets. Two kinds of florets are present, disk florets and ray florets. On a daisy type chrysanthemum the outer parts are ray florets and the centre or eye is composed of disk florets Ornamental flower. As an herb, it was believed by the Chinese to have the power of life.
For the hardy perrenial shrub, chrysanthemums are a beautiful flowering, with a carriage reaching heights of about 1 1/2 feet. The chrysanthemum with a wide and wonderful colour range of extra dwarf and compact plants with semi-double blooms produced in spectacular profusion with well grown plants producing an incredible volume in terms of bloom. Chrysanthemum flowering from late August onwards from late winter sowing and the Chrysanthemum flowers coming in autumn.
