Petunia
Petunia
Facts
The petunia flower was originally found in South America and made it's way to Europe after Spanish settlers came. The petunia is a wonderful decorative flower, that grow to an average of one to two feet high. They come in all shades and may be edged, striped, or starred with a contrasting color. Some are sweet smelling.
The petunia is great for planting in house and home interior arrangements, simple home gardens and many other places. Enthusiats can find many different varieties of petunias. One known as the common white petunia has a plant that is fuzzy and grandular. The smaller purple-violet flowers are silky and less scented. In the evening or when the weather is stormy, petunias will give off an unpleasant scent. They bloom from May till the end of the autumn. Care for petunias is obviuous. Give them plenty of sun and not too much shade. They will flourish better in well drained, light soil rather than clayey ground because they love warmth. Even though Petunias are tender perennials, they are usually treated as annuals and raised from seed yearly.
"Found originally in South and Central America, the petunia is a fine accent to home garden beds.
